Moviemaker TERRY GILLIAM has laughed off reports his former MONTY PYTHON pal MICHAEL PALIN has died, suggesting the news was a shock to the comedian/adventurer himself.
The director blames idle Internet users for the "gossip-mongering nightmare", revealing news about the tragedy spread rapidly last week (ends30Oct09) - as Palin and the Pythons were celebrating their 40th anniversary.
Gilliam is trying to make light of the saga, telling WENN, "It's true, his pet alligator just ate him; it was horrible!

Terry Gilliam, director of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," opens up to Moving Pictures at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival about co-writing with Charlie McKeown, creating a work of "pure imagination," working with Christopher Plummer, and the generous contributions of A-listers Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp to save Heath Ledger's final film.

It is finally upon us – as I type the crowds are thronged outside the Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Boulevard for the American Film Institute Film Festival Opening Gala and North American Premiere of Wes Anderson's stop-motion fable Fantastic Mr Fox (already covered by Screencrave from the London Film Festival – ahead of the game as usual).
